Sensors

Sensors are devices used to measure temperature, position, distance, and proximity, and respond to light sources. In addition to automotive, industrial, and medical applications, Vishay Sensors are used for computing, consumer, telecommunications, military, and aerospace.

Optical Sensors

Vishay Optical Sensor portfolio includes reflective, transmissive, and ambient light sensors. These feature either analog or digital output. They are used in consumer, computing, industrial, and automotive applications. Reflective and transmissive sensors are typically used to detect the presence of an object, and to determine its directional motion and speed. Ambient light sensors are used to measure the environment’s light level. Sensing the color of an object, a gesture of a hand, the heart rate of a person, or the rate of rainfall are all possible with Vishay optical components.

VEML High Accuracy Ambient Light Sensors

Vishay Semiconductors VEML High Accuracy Ambient Light Sensors feature an easy-to-use I2C interface and are housed in miniature transparent packages. These digital 16-bit resolution sensors include a high sensitivity photodiode, low-noise amplifier and a 16-bit A/D converter. The VEML have an operating voltage of 2.5-3.6V with an I2C BUS voltage range of 1.7-3.6V. These sensors include additional ambient light functions like an excellent temperature compensation and high dynamic detection resolution with software shutdown mode control.

VEML6035 I²C Ambient Light Sensor

Vishay VEML6035 I2C Ambient Light Sensor is a 16-bit, low power, and high-sensitivity CMOS light sensor that is operated via I2C command. This sensor consumes an active average power of 300µW. The VEML6035 sensor comes with a photodiode, amplifiers, and analogue/digital circuits in a single chip. This sensor incorporates Filtron™ technology that provides good spectral sensitivity to match human eye responses. Typical applications include an ambient light sensor for mobile devices as well as industrial on/off lighting operation and optical switch for consumer, computing, industrial devices, and displays.
