Current Sense Resistors

Bourns High-Powered CSS Current Sense Resistors come in both 2-terminal and 4-terminal options and are manufactured using a metal element. Each family has a range of low resistance options and power ratings of up to 50W with resistance values as low as 0.05mΩ. These resistors detect and convert current to an easily measured voltage that is proportional to the current through the device. Bourns Current Sense Resistors offer high measurement accuracy and cost-effectiveness compared to other technologies.

Bourns CSS2H-5930 Current Sense Resistors are automotive-grade, surface-mount resistors featuring an electron-beam-welded (EB welded) metal strip design that delivers high power capability and excellent long‑term stability. These Bourns resistors are designed for precision current-sensing applications and offer ultra‑low resistance, a high power rating, and low inductance. The CSS2H-5930 is AEC‑Q200 compliant, RoHS compliant, and halogen-free, ensuring reliable performance in harsh automotive and industrial environments.

CO2 Emissions Reduction Component Solutions

Bourns Automotive CO2 Emissions Reduction Component Solutions are designed to meet the automotive industry's needs to reduce CO2 emissions for environmental reasons. One such solution is micro-hybrid vehicles that use a stop-start system and regenerative braking to help reduce CO2 emissions. Micro-hybrid applications use a 48V starting motor that can restart the engine quicker than a 12V starter. The starter/generator requires a DC/DC converter to efficiently change the alternator output voltage from 48V to 12V in order to charge the battery. A DC/DC converter is also needed to convert the battery voltage from 12V to 48V in order to drive the starter motor. High-powered inductors and current sense resistors can provide the low DC resistance (Rdc) characteristics needed for power conversion and supply requirements, making them important for efficient DC/DC converter designs in automotive applications.
