TDK HVC28 & HVC29 High-Voltage Contactors
TDK HVC28 and HVC29 High-Voltage Contactors are available with continuous current ratings of 300A, 400A, 500A, and 600A for xEVs, DC fast-charging, and AI data center infrastructure. These DC contactors, with an optional mechanical auxiliary contact, use a ceramic, gas-filled arc chamber to quickly and reliably interrupt DC current. The polarity-free main terminals enable bidirectional current flow, making these high-voltage contactors suitable for applications where power can flow in either direction. An integrated connector simplifies low-voltage connections and system installation.
The HVC28 series is ideal for automotive systems with operating DC voltages of up to 1000V and high short-circuit currents. These devices offer a continuous current capability of up to 600A and a short-circuit current capability of 16kA for 5ms. Under specified resistive-load test conditions, the HVC28 contactors perform one maximum cut-off operation at 1600A and 1000V. These features make HVC28 contactors well-suited for xEV battery disconnect units, high-voltage junction boxes, traction battery systems, commercial vehicles, and DC fast-charging stations.
The HVC29 contactors are designed for industrial power systems that require operating DC voltages of up to 1500V and continuous currents of up to 600A. These devices have a short-circuit current-handling capability of 6kA for 5ms. Typical industrial applications include energy storage systems (ESS), solid-state transformers, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and DC fast-charging stations. In AI data centers, HVC29 contactors support the upcoming 800VDC power architectures.
Both the HVC28 and HVC29 series contactors from TDK are available with 12V or 24V single coils and measure 95.5mm x 96mm x 49mm (H x W x D).
