Texas Instruments TXE81xxEVM Evaluation Module

Texas Instruments TXE81xxEVM Evaluation Module is engineered for the evaluation of the TXE81xx family of SPI I/O expanders. The TXE81xx family includes TXE8116, TXE8124, and TXE8148 (16-bit, 24-bit, and 48-bit, respectively) in the leaded package type DGS (24 and 32) and DGG (56).

The TI TXE81xxEVM Evaluation Module provides access to numerous test points and headers, complementing the extensive amount of I/Os offered by each expander. There is a mix of male and female header types that enable easy shunt connections.

Features

  • USB powered (5V and 3.3V options)
  • Option for external power
  • ICC current measurement header (for current consumption measurements)
  • Various male and female connection headers + test points for quick testing
  • On-board USB2ANY for minimal SPI driver setup
  • On-board USB2ANY works with an online GUI in the cloud or downloads to the desktop
  • LEDs for visual feedback (port/RESET/INT)
  • LED enable/disable header
  • Additional test points and headers for SPI connections (SDI/SDO/SCLK/CS)
  • Can be used with external drivers such as MSPM0, TP Aardvark, TP Cheetah, TP Promira, Arduino, and ESP32
  • Manual reset toggle switch to reset the SPI to the I/O expander
  • Daisy chain capable between multiple TXE81XXEVMs

Applications

  • Extending the GPIOs of an MCU
  • Sensor control
  • Driving LEDs and arrays
  • Keypad/matrix handling

Kit Contents

  • TXE81XXEVM
