The STMicroelectronics VL53L8CH is an 8x8 multizone ToF sensor that offers improved performance under ambient light with a wide 65° diagonal field of view (FoV). The compact and normalized histogram (CNH) innovative data output is specially designed for artificial intelligence (AI) applications requiring multizone raw data from a high-performance multizone ToF sensor. The VL53L8CH sensor also features a 2 cm to 400 cm per zone range, up to 60 Hz sample rate, and -30°C to 85°C operating temperature range. This sensor integrates a Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL), which emits Class 1 certified and fully invisible 940nm IR light.

The VL53L8CH sensor is available in 6.4 mm x 3 mm x 1.75 mm dimensions in an optical LGA16 package.

Typical applications for the VL53L8CH include gesture motion, hand posture recognition, people counting for smart home, and floor sensing for robotics and vacuum cleaners.
